54112-01687,17318 The Culpeper Residency is seeking two individuals who enjoy working outside to inspect assigned phases of highway and related structure construction and maintenance projects. Will also inspect and test materials, advise contractors on their acceptablility and placement, maintain construction project records and perfrom other related duties. We are looking for people with knowledge of highway construction inspection techniques, methods, and procedures and construction terms and symbols. Will need the ability to interpret contracts, special provisions, plans and specifications, use engineering field equipment; record data clearly and concisely, interpret and prepare reports; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and perform basic mathematic and geometric calculations. Applicants will be considered for the position at the level of Construction Inspector Trainee if the qualified applicant pool for Construction Inspector A is insufficient.

A Trainee must have knowledge of basic mathematics, including geometry; and the ability to record data clearly and concisely; read and interpret instructional and technical manuals; and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Both positions require the willingness to work adjusted schedules and overtime hours. Positions may require working in the vicinity of devices emitting low-level ionizing radiation.
