Steven E. Baldwin, 18, of Route 1, Washington, pleaded guilty in General District Court on March 6 to charges resulting from a jovride last Dec. 17.
According to warrants fded by Trooper C.A. Moore and Rappahannock County Sheriffs Department Lt. Jeff Brown, Baldwin and two juveniles drove through the town and the surrounding area for several kours, using his 1977 Ford pickup to knock over road signs, mailboxes, private signs and gates, an electric fence and tore out a retaining wall built of wooden poles. They also destroyed a telephone junction box belonging to Central Telephone Co. [tCentel) and broke the guy wire off a '|itility pole on Blue Ridge Avenue, ■ which knocked out power to Poto■ mac Edison customers in Harris i Hollow. I He was arrested by Trooper [Moore and Lt. Brown after he side; swiped another vehicle on Route 622 [in Harris Hollow and tried to flee. > Baldwin was charged with 14 ■ misdemeanor counts of destruction [ of property; two felony counts of de[ struction of property belonging to a [public utility; and one count each of driving under the influence, failure ; to drive to the right, and hit and run.
He also faced a speeding charge placed by Trooper R. E. Keen for an unrelated incident on Dec. 6, 1988.
