“That’s a good point,” Mr. McCarthy said.
“It’s in there as a step towrard a CIP (Capital Improvements Plan),” said Hampton District Supervisor Mike Massie, who represents the board on the Planning Commission.
Mr. McCarthy explained that the need for administrative space was because of “conflicts on the use of this room (the courtroom). Meetings have to be moved to the basement of the clerk's office, which is known as the Niagara Room because the plumbing is routed through it. We want a second courtroom. Judges in other places have a habit of saying we want a new courtroom in a year or we’ll hold the county in comtempt. Things like this don’t have to be in a comprehensive plan, but they’re in here because we don’t have a CIP.”
