Harry Franklin Lewis, 43, of Sperry ville, died early Sunday morning when his car flipped on Route 522 near Massies Corner.

According to Trooper H. A. Newlin, Mr. Lewis was southbound at about 6 a.m. when he apparently fell asleep. His 1982 Pontiac Firebird ran across the northbound lane and off the left side of the road, where it struck an embankment and overturned.

Trooper Newlin said Mr. Lewis was partially ejected through the car’s sunroof and pinned between the roof of the car and the road as the car skidded to rest on its top.

He was extricated from the vehicle by the Flint Hill Fire Department and transported to Fauquier Hospital by Washington’s Medic 1 Advanced Life Support ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
