To the editor:
Politicians who have contributed to the huge federal defecits too often suggest that an amendment to the U.S. Constitution is needed to force a balancing of the federal budget.
In effect, they’re telling us that the Constitution is deficient. But it is the politicians who should be forced by the voters to adhere to the Constitution and balance the budget.
