In June James Fountain is retiring after 26 years in the Rappahannock school system.
For many of Rappahannock’s students, Mr. Fountain is the teacher who made them do jumping jacks and push-ups to spill off excess energy and teach them something about travel and transportation.
For the past several years Mr. Fountain has taught language arts, world history and world geography to sixth
graders.
Mr. Fountain taught there for two years. The next year the county was in transition, preparing for full integration and consolidation of the elementary schools. He taught sixth graders a Sperryville Elementary. The building is graders.
