The trip to Richmond by the Rappahannock High Chapter of Technology Students of America for the April 26-27 state contest proved to be a great success.
With over 30 schools participating, Rappahannock students again won several awards. In individual contests, only David Barney received a trophy. He was third place in Illustrated Presentation (safety position).
All team members for the Technology Bowl contest took a written test on Friday afternoon. Bryan Clark scored the highest of all students in the state on this test. He received a first place trophy.
The team’s average score was ranked the highest of all teams participating. They then moved on to the oral competition the next day. They had a bye in the first round of elimination and then went on to win three in a row to gain the title of state champions.
In the final round against Buffalo Gap, they were down by a score of -5 to 15 and came back to win the contest.
