A grassroots group calling itself the Rappahannock Educational Foundation has formed recently, and one of its first activities will be a benefit concert for schoolchildren.
“This is something Dave (Gangel, the superintendent of schools) and I conceived of about two years ago to help pay for some of the extras the schools simply can’t afford,” said Vinnie Carney, a member of the foundation’s executive board with Dr. Gangel, Susan Parrish and Frank Reynolds.
The foundation’s first goal will be fundraising, said Mrs. Carney, and then executive board members will determine where money would be best spent.
