Athletic banquet set The Rappahannock County Athletic banquet will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 at the high school. A covered dish dinner will be furnished by the athletes and the athletic department. Tickets are $3 for adults, JV and 8th grade athletes. For tickets call RCHS at 987-8575.
Benefit bake sale The Odd Fellows Cemetery Association of Washington will be holding a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, May 27 at the Sperryville Emporium.
Benefit for Educational Foundation The Rappahannock rock ’n’ roll band, Venus Jones (formerly Crazy Eights), will perform a benefit children’s dance at the Washington Fire Hall on Saturday, June 1. The “Children’s Dance” runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and is aimed at elementary school students. From 8 p.m.-ll p.m. high school students will be entertained. Admission is $2 per child and adults get in free. The event will be fully chaperoned, so kids can be dropped off. Proceeds from the event will support the Rappahannock Educational Foundation, a non-profit group formed recently to raise money for the county’s public schools. The Rappahannock Elementary PTO will be selling hots, dogs, nachos, baked goods and drinks.
RAAC plans Casino night RAAC’s spring 1991 fundraiser is going to be more fun-filled and entertaining than ever. The association’s Casino Night Fundraiser will be held at the Briargate Inn in Huntly on Saturday, June 8. Poker, blackjack, the wheel of fortune, Bingo, craps and other games will be played. Other entertainment includes door prizes, raffle drawing, an auction and performers. Tickers are $25 and available through RAAC, 675-3193.
Bawkey family reunion Family and friends of William Claude and Fannie Cobb Bawkey are invited to a family reunion at 12 noon on Sunday, May 26 at the Rappahannock Park. Please bring a covered dish and join in the reunion. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
