This victory extends the winning streak by Rappahannock County students to the third year in a row that they have been the state champions. TTie school has made a name for itself in technology circles as the team to beat in Richmond.
A small, rural technology program evidently does very well against the larger school districts from Northern Virginia and Tidewater.
In a new effort for Rappahannock, the school entered two students in a control technology contest. It involved a live problemsolving task using Lego/Logo. Students were given a design brief and a certain Lego set of bricks to assemble a working solution. They brainstormed for 30 minutes and then had one hour to solve the problem.
After judging, the finalists were then asked to return to write the computer program in Logo using Apple computers to make the solution work by the computer.
