Mr. McCarthy said he feels that it should be a symbol typical of the community. He mentioned the apple orchards and the mountains as two distinct traits of the county.
The Board of Supervisors at their meeting on July 1 will select the three most appropriate entries and display them for public inspection throughout the month of July.
Mr. McCarthy said he plans to display them at public functions such as the Fourth of July festivities. They will also be shown in the courthouse and, if reproducible, in the paper.
Then, at the Aug. 5 Board of Supervisors meeting, a public hearing will be held and a winner chosen accordingly.
