Boddie and Dietrich Beaver tied for the team lead in stolen bases with 12.
During the all-district balloting last week six Rappahannock softball players were named to all-star teams. Payne, Swatman and Freeman were all named second-team alldistrict; Boddie, Pullen and Heidi Maeyer were honorable mention; and Coffey and Leah Marlett gained votes.
Only one regular starter, Maeyer, will graduate this year. Other seniors on the team are Edna Shanks, Metta Eilstrup and Diana Hudson.
“The lack of inexperience being in a tournament hurt us, but we’ll be back,” said Coach Leake.
Kevin Daymude named
to all-district team
Kevin Daymude, was named to the All-Bull Run District first team as a designated hitter this week.
The Rappahannock High junior led the Panthers in hitting and clocked several home runs during the recently-completed season.
Jason Butler was voted to the third team as an outfielder.
