Beginning the weekend in a light-hearted way is Rappahannock County High School’s spring play at 8 p.m. May 24 and 25 in the Rappahannock County High School auditorium in Sperryville.

“The Miracle Worker” stars 11 high school students with eighth grader Amy Hathaway in the lead as Helen Keller and senior Susan Estes as her gifted and patient teacher Annie Sullivan.

Tickets for the event are $3 for students 12 and under and $4 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Another school orientated event is the alumni basketball game on Saturday at Wakefield School on U.S. 522 in Huntly. The game — in its ninth year — features alumni aganist the current varsity team. Admission for the 2 p.m event in the school’s gymnasium is free.

Saturday morning the county awakens to a variety of events, including the annual festival in Sperryville. Events begin at 10 a.m. with parking available at designated areas around the county.
