For those looking for nighttime entertainment, Ki Theatre in Washington offers two shows: an 8 p.m. performance Saturday and a 7 p.m. show Sunday in the Town Hall in Washington.
“Katie Malone,” a one-act one woman show performed and written by local director of Ki Theatre, Julie Portman, offers a seriously comic approach to one woman’s life - Mrs. Portman’s mother’s life -offering audiences of all ages a laugh and a sigh as they listen to the story of a woman who remains herself through motherhood and marriage.
The second act on the program is “Mrs. Ripley’s Trip,” a one-act Hamlin Garland play performed by Ted Pugh of the Actor’s Ensemble of New York.
“The Clown, The Mime and Vaudeville” offers Sunday night audiences to bring the whole family for laughter and song. Two noted artists — Larry Goldstein and Mark Jaster, offer an evening of sketches, antics and fun for the family.
For those interested in the technique and style of the art, Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings Mr. Pugh offers workshops in the Michael Chekhov tradition for entertainers and performers of various backgrounds.
“We have so many signed up we have to move the workshop to the elementary school” gymnasium, Ki Theater director Julie Portman said.
“This is for professionals and non-professionals,” she said, adding the 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. course offers students a look at the technique made famous by Chekhov,
