Rappahannock News Staff Writer
Rappahannock County’s softball squad is having a great season in the Bull Run District with a nearly unblemished record. The Panthers ended a seven-game win streak Tuesday with their first district loss of the season at Clarke County by a score of 5-4.
But Rappahannock (11-5 overall, 7-1 district) has been brilliant in all its other Bull Run games. The team has two more district games before the Bull Run tournament begins May 18.
“The girls are playing as team,” said coach Richie Burke. “We have a small squad of only nine girls who are very focused and want to win, so we should do very well.”

The Panthers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and held on to dominate district rival Manassas Park on Monday at home.
Rappahannock batters wracked up seven hits, with Morgan Stephens going 2 for 4 with a single, a double and three RBIs to lead the way. Crystal Heflin was was 2 for 3.
