Over $18,000 was allocated to 15 applicants, all of whom will be attending college in the fall. Two of the applicants were graduates of the RCHS class of 2006, seeking support for their sophomore year.
The recipients, as well as the recipients of many other local scholarships, will be announced at a Scholarship Awards Assembly at Rappahannock County High School on May 18, to be attended by all 10th, 11th, and 12th graders and the scholarship donors themselves. The Board conserved a sum of money so that students could reapply for “last-dollar” funds in August, should a gap still exist once their total financial picture is more complete.

Scholarships for 2007
The three scholarships considered on Saturday included the Dream Fund, the RPM Scholarship, and the Elizabeth Biggs Scholarship. Together, they represent almost $25,000 in new scholarship support available to local youth. They complement the existing local scholarships, many of which have been helping local youth attend college for years. In all, the amount of local scholarship money available to RCHS graduates has more than tripled since Next Step started.
