It was a large artistic undertaking but the outcome is awesome.
The past few days have been a flurry of activity starting in the Rappahannock County high school auditorium and concluding in the art classroom. Art teacher Joy Sours conceived the idea and directed the creation of the largest mural project in the school’s history.
Altogether, about 130 students and teachers, and two professional artists painted 498 square feet of canvas.
The project was originally intended to celebrate the school’s art program and display the students’ artistic ability to the community. The project was funded by a grant from the Curriculum Enrichment Program and money was used to hire two professional muralists from Washington to come to Rappahannock County High School with paint and canvases.
