Third, the stories of valedictorians being rejected - that only happens at a handful of schools in the nation. Lucky for us, in this country, in this state, there are many affordable colleges that accept more than 50% of the applicants who apply.

Fourth, at the risk of sounding smarmy, rejection is a part of life. When someone has said no to me, I find that I wake up a little, work a little harder, get a clearer idea of what it actually takes to get what I want, and realign my life to that new goal.

Fifth, if you received a thin envelope from your top choices, know that you are in good company. As I said, lots of people ■ are wait listed or rejected. Some are reeling from it, some
