Hunt Harris is one step closer to having an arrest for armed robbery wiped from his record. ,
A fingerprint analysis from the scene of the crime — a Virginia ABC liquor store near Fredericksburg - has come in from a state lab and confirmed that the prints are not Harris’s.
The forensic evidence was sent to the lab in December, but the results did not come in until last week.
The 54-year-old Castleton resident had no criminal record until he was accused of the heist in November.
Harris, who is the executive director of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center in Sperryville, was caught up in the investigation after a clerk at an ABC store in Warrenton saw him and thought he resembled the composite sketch made after the robbery on Oct. 26.
The Spotsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office eventually decided in January not to prosecute the case, but the arrest is still on Harris’s record and the pending fingerprint analysis was the final barrier to him seeking an expungement.
