Piper told the board that there was only one crier among the children entering school for the first time.

Chappell reported that the opening of the high school had been “as smooth as any I've ever been associated with.” He praised students and teaching staff and noted that RCHS as of the tenth day of school was 460 students.

Transportation Report Assistant Superintendent Jerry Lysik gave the transportation report, saying that seven out of the ten school vehicles were operable. He recommended that the board accept the offer of a vehicle from the Sheriffs Department. accept bids for the five inoperable vehicles presently held by the school, and purchase a replacement pickup truck from the state lot. The board agreed to accept Lysik’s recommendations
