The ' ‘ Back-to-School Boogie” held at Rappahannock Hick School last week was a resounding success, according to the RCHS Booster Club, sponsors of the event.
High school principal Robert Chappell, who attended the first booster club meeting this year, said that the dance, for first-year students, allowed the younger members of the school to socialize without the pressure of older friends present.
The dance was wellattended. the youngsters were well-behaved, and it raised $130.00 for the school, resulting in a donation by the booster club of several pieces of needed equipment to the Science Lab. Winners of the dance contest were Patrick Brown and Nicole Frye.
At its meeting last Monday night, the booster club officers introduced themselves to members, discussed the purpose and needs of the club, and made plans for the Friendship Follies to be staged in October. Club members also heard from high school principal Robert Chappell, who said that there were many needs that Booster Club members could help fill.
‘‘I’m especially pleased that we have your support for all the programs of the school, not just the sports program." he said.
