Mr. Bowman’s consuming interest in fox hunting is directly responsible for the existence of the Fairfax Hunt, whose activities for years were centered on and around the 7200 acre Sunset Hills estate, acquired by Mr. Bowman in 1927 and now known as Res ton. The Bowman family continues to this day to take an active part in the Fairfax Hunt activities. A. Smith Bowman’s interest in local problems and projects began in the late 20’s, and his influence is reflected even in the current operations of the Fairfax Hunt.
