To the editor: As a mother of pre-school age children who resides in Wakefield District, 1 noticed with astonishment and embarrassment the latest episode in egotism and unbelievably rude behavior by our district’s representative on the school board.

Cursing and brow-beating Mrs. Massie, denigrating Mr. Baumgardner and stating that Nelson Lane is a "poor boy" too ignorant to understand the issues before the board, are actions which demean not only Mr. East ham personally, but also all of us whom he, supposedly, represents.

It is patently clear from his attitude and actions exactly where he wants all power to reside - not in the School Board, but in Eastham’s judgement. And while I am in favor of all that would enhance our public school facilities, I hardly feel that steamrolling others at any cost can ever lead to fair and conscientious decisionmaking beneficial to anyone.

Could you please clarify for me what possible qualifications this man has to serve on the Board of Education? Who appointed him and why? (And though I
