Gas is no longer cheap and money is harder and harder to come by in these troubled economic times. Smart country store owners are restocking their shelves to provide a week’s worth of groceries to families concerned both about keeping money in struggling Rappahannock communities and conserving gas and dollars spent for gas.
One of these shopkeepers is Wilson Burke, who has remodeled his uncle’s store at Woodville to provide the same kind of service that his uncle first gave the little village. Of course, times have changed and the community no longer has the same needs. But the people of Woodville and surrounding areas do have a store now that aims to stock whatever it takes to provide a one-stop shopping center: gas, fresh meat and produce, staples, canned goods, snacks, paper products, cleansers and school supplies.
