28. 1950, front page news was: attendance at the Rappahannock County Fair: a business course offered at Rappahannock High School; the closing of schools that Friday for a teacher’s meeting: the meeting of the garden club at the home of Mr. W.H. Lyne; and the County Home Demonstration Club news.

Another front page story was the installment of a traffic light on the corner of Main and Middle Streets in Washington: '‘This light has been badly needed for years, as this is one of the most dangerous corners in town.” The reporter expressed a wish that the Highway Department would recognize the need for more traffic signs and markers in Rappahannock County. On sale at the Royal Quality Shop in Front Royal was a wool jersey dress with a pucker stitch yoke and popular three-quarter length sleeves for $17.95.

Among the many movies at local theatres was The Heiress with Barbara Stanwyck and Wendell Corey.
