Fire school classes will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. at the Amissville Fire Hall on Saturday, September 25. School will start at 8 p.m. the remaining days; September 26, October 2 and 3. The schedule calls for classes to end around 4 p.m.
Cost for the 19th annual Amissville fire school is $10 a person for the four days of classes. Pre-registration would be appreciated. To register, contact Carl James after 6 p.m. at 937-5795 or Paul Poling at 937-5205.
“Without this type of training, about the only thing that a volunteer fireman is equipped to do is to raise money for the department,” Huff noted. “Fund raising is important but we have a critical need for trained firefighters. Training is a lot of work,” he acknowledged. “But it’s all worth it if you can save someone’s property, alleviate suffering or save a life."
Members Wanted
The Choral Society of Culpeper announces that until September 27 it has openings for new singers, particularly men.
Prospective members are invited to attend the Monday 7:45 p.m. rehearsal at the Culpeper Presbyterian Church, 215 S. Main, after which brief auditions will be held.
