Rappahannock New* Photo/T. Rey nolds THE STRANGE CONTRAPTION in the foreground was part of an exercise in Physics planned by Rappahannock High School Physics teacher Brian Patterson. Students in Pattersons class were directed to propel an egg as far as they could using only two rubber bands for energy. Another stipulation of the experiment was that the egg had to be protected from breakage. The winners of the experimental egg thrust were Charles Johnson, Chuck Stephenson and Mike Leake. In the background Downing McCoy makes final adjustments to his device. Patterson called the exercise “a smashing success.”
