A public hearing held by the county Board of Supervisors on the $6.8 million school budget Monday hight brought comments from dozens of concerned Rappahannock citizens.
Many of the speakers were worried that their real estate taxes would rise by 20 percent if the budget is approved. That will be the case if the budget is not cut and the county budget also is approved without cuts.
Many others wondered why so much money is budgeted for remedial teaching. Some asked if the students would need remedial reading if they had been taught the right way in the first place. Others asked if money that is needed to tneet requirements for the new standards of accreditation
