wood, to comply with the code. Also, architectural shingles would be installed over fire retardant treated plywood, roofing felts and ice and water shielding at the perimeter and ridges.

Dr. David Gangel, superintendent of schools for Rappahannock, said they had looked at metal roofs through discussion with universities which had them and • found there is a structural problem after about 15 years.

Dr. Gangel said it was obvious that they needed to move forward and get bids on the roof replacement since by policy the work had to be done over the summer. County Administrator John McCarthy said there are sufficient funds in the unobligated surplus account to cover the necessary funds.

He told the BOS that there is $450,000 to $500,000 available and so the BOS could commit the $150,000 or so for the roof. “You, need to maintain about 10 percent of the funds for cash flow so there should be no problem with approving the funds.”

With the BOS approval to move ahead and secure bids the School Board is now in the process of doing just that and will make a report on those bids to the BOS as soon as possible.
