I he second annual Paul Mellon Foxhunters’ ‘Chase for qualified field hunters ridden by amateur jockeys starts at 12:15 p.m. The U.S. Park Police mounted guard will perform a special musical quadrille at 12:40 p.m., and opening ceremonies are set for 1 p.m.

Runners for the first steeplechase race, a starter handicap over hurdles, will be in the paddock starting at 1:15 p.m., with post time for the first scheduled for 1:30 p.m. A total of seven races are carded, with post time for the featured Virginia Gold Cup set for 4:30 p.m. A national television taping will commence at 3 p.m. The Kentucky Derby will be broadcast live from Louisville, Ky. across the public address system at 5:30 p.m.
