The professional French-American theatre company, Le Neon, brings its newest show “Becassine” to the Theatre at Washington, Va., for one performance only on Saturday, May 10 at 8 p.m. This follows at three-week sold-out run of the show in the Washington, D.C. area.
“Becassine” is loosely adapted from the French comic strip series of the same name. It was the most popular comic strip in France during the first half of this century until its final appearance in 1947. The naive and down-to-earth peasant girl Becassine leaves her native Brittany, first for work in Paris and later in America. She experiences a rollicking series of adventures along the way. While places and people change, Becassine remains unchanged: ignorant yet curious, gullible yet cautious, naive yet endearing.
