Another runner with solid speed credentials is the John Bosley-owned, -trained and -ridden Pacific Spy. The Maryland amateur rider partnered the Maryland-bred son of Masked Dancer to win the 1990 Iroquois Steeplechase, a natural hurdle stake worth $100,000, and the $250,000 Dueling Grounds Stakes the same year.
Though he is a maiden over timber in sanctioned competition, Pacific Spy has hit the board in point-to-point preps, winning most recently at the Howard County-Iron Bridge hunter chase timber race for qualified field hunters last spring. His career has been marked by injury, and Pacific Spy has not run yet this year, but he has the class to challenge the best on his day.
