On organizing syndicates, Falk said that whatever the format — a handshake between a few friends or a full-blown racing club — some form of governance was necessary to control the partnership. “It is always a good idea to try and have an odd number of partners,” he said. “That way you avoid impasses as most decisions will include all parties.”
Trainer Charles C. Fenwick Jr. said he has dealt with many arguments among syndicate owners in his stable, but “... I find that if I deal individually with each syndicate member, they stay more in touch and tend to settle their differences readily.”
