A special surprise was a song, “You Are My Hero,” sung by RCES Principal Raye Tupper. She told the volunteers that this was the way she chose to honor them this year, and that the schools could not do anything without them. Her husband, Mike Tupper, who is the vice-principal of RCHS, also thanked the volunteers.
Mrs. Tupper’s song was followed by some songs by several members of the fifth grade chorus.
In closing, Mrs. Makela also thanked Jeanie McNear, who is in charge of the RSVP program in the county; Judy Tole, who is active in the computer program at RCHS; the First Thursday Education Support Group, and Headwaters, a very committed and energetic education foundation.
