Park View High School teachers Denise Wingfield (advanced biology) and Dan Moriarty (mathematics), have won a $12,000 grant from General Telephone & Electronic Corp.’s Growth Initiatives For Teachers program.
The grant allocates funds for both professional development for both teachers and for a 1997-98 school year project. Their grant winning project is “Who Dunnit” The Use of Forensic Science in Teaching Math and Science.” Up to 30 seniors at the Sterling Park High School will be involved in the year-long independent science research which includes the study of DNA, fingerprinting, ballistics, hair and fiber analysis, and forensic anthropology.
