Carroll, an anthropologist who has confronted abuse suffered in her childhood, has now established a new journal devoted to Spirituality and Violence. And Rosie, a child of the projects in Brooklyn who has had to overcome an abusive husband, a terrible childhood secret and a weakened heart, hps found new power through her art.
f>ortman suggests that especially in the climate in which we are living, in which violence surrounds us, we can all do a great deal to counteract that violence through the sharing of stories. “Some stories are just too heavy to carry by yourself; they must be shared with others. And with the telling, healing can begin, healing that ultimately comes through relationships.”
