Ms. Steed comes from a background in Western medicine. Her father and two brothers are doctors.
“My father graduated from Georgetown in 1943 in internal medicine, my oldest brother is ER certified, and my youngest brother is a doctor at Emory University,” said Ms. Steed.
In spite of all that conventional medicine in her heritage, Ms. Steed went her own way, becoming a horse woman in New York before moving to Fauquier County and then to Rappahannock.
Ms. Steed went to the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and graduated last June.
Ms. Steed, who lives on a farm in Rappahannock County, said the farm owner inspired her to continue her studies.
