Chris Stephens delights in the life sunlight reveals in a landscape, although people and animals are absent. His pictures sav, “Look what paint can do to pay homage to nature." Sweeping views of open spaces and forested areas are backed bv the mountains and luminous skies.
Looking at the paintings at a distance one notices details, while close up. one enjoys the brush work that indicates a masterful grasp of painting technique. There is an exuberance in these works that belies the discouragement of our war-lacerated times and urges us to remember that there is joy as well.
All of the works are exquisitely framed in handmade and painted wooden frames, echoing colors found in them.
