The other mound stalwart of the JV staff is sophomore Lara Kreyling. It was her turn to rotate down from the varsity to handle the pitching chores at the JV team and she came through with another solid performance, leading the Lady Panthers to an 8 to 0 shutout in Berryville.
Just as exciting as Johnson’s fifth home run of the season was the start of a new team in school history — - the Junior Panther Softball Team. These 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls traveled to Orange County to play the Prospect Heights Middle School team in an opening day double header.
After losing the first game 9 to 8, the girls grabbed the nightcap by the score of 10 to 8. Seventh graders Rebecca Tupper and Christina Mills shared the opening day pitching chores for the youngest of Panther softballers. These young hurlers are exciting to watch, as are the rest of the future Lady Panthers.
