Some owners have worked unique designs into the racing silks as distinguishing marks, but the solid colors and simple combinations are in general the oldest “colors.”
Markings may include solid colors, halves, stripes, chevrons, bars, hoops, sashes, balls, frogs and an infinite number of initials or design.
