Tuesday, April 16 the Varsity Panthers traveled to Brentsville District High School and locked horns with a tough Tiger team. Juniors Darryl Cropp (3 for 3 w/2 RBIs) and Michael Cannon (2 for 2) were perfect at the plate and led the Panther attack. Mike Wiese executed a perfect suicide squeeze bunt to bring in the tying run but, in the end the Panthers fell short losing 6 to 5 to Brentsville.

Here at home the JV Panthers suffered a tough loss to the JV Tigers as well. Young Alex Sharp had pitched a great game with some solid defense behind him, going into the final inning leading 4 to 2. Some mental and physical errors in the top of the 7th gave the Brentsville nine the two runs they needed to knot the score and they went on to win the game 6 to 4 in an extra inning.

On Thursday, April 18, the boys of summer got a nondistrict game opportunity against the valley Panthers from Page County High School. The varsity boys traveled to Page for the game but, the guys left ^heir bats at home as they got only one hit in a 10 to 0 drubbing.

Meanwhile, the JV Panthers played host to the JV team from Page here and handed them an 11 to 6 defeat as eighth grade pitchers, Jacob Dodson and Dylan Corbin combined for the victory. Dodson helped his own cause at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a double, and freshmen Ethan Berry and Dustin White each added a double of their own.

On Friday, April 19 the varsity hosted the Eagles from Clarke County. The Panthers were still without their bats and couldn’t shake the grip of the Eagle defense. The Clarke defense played flawlessly without an error and recorded four double plays against the Rapp squad. The end result was the same — a not so pretty 10 to 0 defeat at home — their second in a row.

The JV Eagles weren’t the gracious host that the Panthers were at home and put away the visiting Rapp JV team by the same 10 to 0 score that the varsity experienced. The week ended poorly for the Panthers and the teams must find a way to
