Bird identification
Lyt Wood will present “An Introduction to Birds and Birding" on Friday, April 26 at 8 p.m. at Ki Theatre. Gay Street, Washington. Fee of $30 will benefit the Rappahannock Nature Camp. Team captains to meet
The next meeting of team captains for Relay for Life takes place on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Baptist Church. While team registration will continue until the day of the Relay, those team captains who register their teams by this meeting will have their team names on the back of the team shirts.
If you have not yet picked up your team packages, team packages can be picked up at Settles in Flint Hill or the Office of the Commissioner of Revenue in Washington. Dog Day Afternoon set
The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League presents the second annual Dog Day Afternoon on Saturday, May 11 from 12 to 5 p.m. at Windsor Lodge Farm near Flint Hill.
Planned activities include Agility Fun Run Ring; The Show Off Ring; Performing Pets Ring; Terrier Races, RAWL Alumni Reunion and new this year will be Coursing Competitiohs. Refreshments will be available and Hog Wild BBQ and Catering will be selling food. Cost is $5 per person and children 12 and under will be admitted free. For more information call 636-3308.

The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking contestants for their annual fire queen. Interested girls up to age 21 should contact Joyce Lillard at 987-8952. The carnival will be held June 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Bake sale/garage sale set
On Saturday, May 4, the Relay for Life cancer walk teams will hold a bake sale and garage sale at the Rappahannock High School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy this fun. All team captains interested in participating should call Michelle at 675-3157. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
