high gear. Although the past several games have been rainy and muddy, parents and students alike have huddled under umbrellas to cheer on the teams. There’s nothing like spring sports!
• Mrs. Leser and Mr. Tony Lambiasi, fourth grade teacher at WCDS, chaperoned nine international students to Georgetown Prep last weekend for an International Student Mixer. The dance, sponsored by Georgetown Prep, included international students from private schools in the Northern Virginia, D,C., and Maryland area.
Many of the students recognized each other from summer programs they attended at Georgetown Prep, as they sharpen their English skills. Cries of “Hello”, spoken in many different languages filled the air as they saw old roommates and summer friends. Just another example of how small our world is becoming.
• Wishes of a speedy recovery go out this week to Herbert Linge, 12th grade, as he recovers from a broken arm suffered as he played basketball, to Allison Russo, 8th grade, as she struggles with a broken wrist which occurred during a soccer game, and to Alex Naime, 10th grade, as he recovers from a broken collarbone that also occurred during a soccer game. Many good wishes go out to headmaster Michael Vargo’s father, who suffered a slight stroke and has been a patient at Fairfax Hospital since last Monday.
