Deer seized

Miller requested the warrant after he “received information that people were keeping and maintaining miniature deer (and other wildlife)” on June 15, according to the documents.

“The undersigned (sic) investigation revealed that miniature deer, later identified as muntjacs, were being kept in captivity at 10216 Oakridge Lane, Midland in Fauquier County, Virginia,” Miller wrote in a search warrant affidavit. “The undersigned contacted animal control officer B. Cooper of the Fauquier Sheriff’s Office (and) she stated she had been to the location on at least two occasions in reference to other complaints and observed miniature deer, birds and an unknown species of cat.”

Miller said in the affidavit that the couple did not have the permits necessary to keep the animals.
