Previously, a loan approved by the Virginia Pooled Financing Program for the town of Front Royal, rated a 20-year note at 4.6 percent interest. Last year, a 30-year loan for the town of Edinburg locked in at 4.9 percent.
Bennett said that the town would be looking at similar extended term loans for the project adding that future loans would probably be locked in at a higher rate.
The Washington Town Council has also investigated options offered by the USDA Rural Development in Harrisonburg and the The Virginia Municipal League.
