knowing if my wife and I were in our house when Cloniger apparently wandered onto our property, I was shocked that the sheriff or a member of his staff did not make every effort possible to reach us.
Although the authorities were focused at the time on rushing to the scene in order to trap Cloniger in Harris Hollow, an instantaneous Internet search of our names would have given the sheriff the contact information necessary to reach my wife and me to (i) confirm that Cloniger had not cornered us in our own house, and (ii) inform us directly that our home was now at the center of the manhunt. But the failure of the sheriff’s office to contact us that day is not my real concern.
