Long known for its love of canines, the Town of Middleburg will celebrate this affection with “Dog Day in August” on Saturday, August 5th, from noon to 5 p.m. A full street block will be closed in downtown Middleburg on Madison Street (just south of Route 50 and the traffic light in town). The event is sponsored by the Middleburg Business & Professional Association, Wylie Wagg and Main Street Middleburg.
Families and their dogs will enjoy an afternoon of activities geared towards people and their pets. Organizations represented will include multiple humane rescue groups and animal-based charities. Additionally, there will be an agility demonstration, dog training tips, animal care advice, animal CPR demonstration, as well as dog adoption. Pet portrait artists will be on hand with examples of their work. Tb round out the event, there will be numerous contests geared towards children and their pets, as well as doggie ice cream, dog biscuits, a “pet psychic” and a face painter. Bella the German Shepard, recipient of charitable funds raised during the first annual event for a life saving operation, will be on hand to welcome visitors.
