beveral critical issues must be addressed quickly on cases of this nature. First and foremost would be medical aid to any injured persons found at the scene. This was not required on this case. Our Deputy then gave a “look-out” and “direction of travel” broadcast based on best information at the time.
For the deputy to abandon the scene and strike out on foot into the dense timber of Wolf Mountain would have compromised the crime scene, K.9 operations, and exposed him needlessly to danger. He stayed put and this was the correct decision.
