regarding the sheriff’s handling of the public outreach side of the Ira Wayne Cloniger incident contained a significant factual misstatement.
Tayloe implied in last week’s article that the sheriff actually contacted my wife and me on Friday, July 7 w’ith the terrifying news that Cloniger might be in our unoccupied residence on Harris Hollow Road and that a tactical police unit had surrounded our house.
In fact, a friend in the Town of Washington who had heard the details from someone at the post office—not the sheriff or one of his deputies— informed us of this unbelievable and heart-breaking news.
