RappFLOW is pleased to announce the near completion of a nine-week residence of intern, Meghan Gloyd, a senior at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Gloyd, a major of Engineering Science and Mechanics, participated in Virginia Tech’s STEP program (Service Training for Environmental Progress). STEFs goal is to involve college students in community-based environmental research and education, and to help communities cope with water issues. Alan Raflo, of the Virginia Water Resources Research Center at Virginia Tech, supervises the program.
About her experience, Gloyd shares, “I was looking for a summer internship that was involved in my long-term goal of working with water systems overseas in an engineering and community setting and my professor passed along a flyer about the STEP Program. Students are given several choices of communities in which to work and an overview of the various projects and choose the one that suits their interests and expertise. I chose to work for RappFLOW because I liked the rural area and the project sounded very interesting.”
